Ahoy, Li'l Buccaneers!

I love books. I love reading to my kids. My kids love books. My kids love me reading to them. I am very happy that I have been able to teach my kids to love books. Even Max at almost a year old loves books. Sometimes he will crawl off to his room and sit next to his book shelf and stare at books. I love this. So I am constantly on the hunt for new books. I have lots of books for Dexters age but I really wanted more for Max too.
Recently I was sent a book to review from Sterling Publishing. It is called "Ahoy, Li'l Buccaneers!". I thought only Dexter would really like this book since it wasn't loaded with colorful pictures and was mostly about the words. So when we got the book I sat down with the boys and read it. Then read it again. and again. Basically I read them the book 5 times before they were satisfied and could do something else. Dexter's something else was to be a pirate!
I really love how into this book they both get. Max likes to point at all the pictures and it is easy for him to turn the page. Dexter loves the story and likes to say the words with me. He also stares at the pictures and asks me "what is that?" about everything.
I think this is the perfect book for both kids big and small. The age range says 2-5 but I don't think Max can ruin this book since it doesn't have any flaps and the pages are sturdy. He can also follow along and is entertained by it.  Dexter is almost three and he loves the book. He can follow with the story and he likes all the pictures.
About the author: Ahoy, Li'l Buccaneers! and Giddy Up, Li'l Buckaroos! are Mark Iacolina's first published books. Mark has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for more than 15 years. He lives in northern NJ with his wife, two children, and two cats.
You can buy the book here for $6.95 and it is well worth the money.
Hours spent looking at the pictures.

READ IT AGAIN MOM!
