I own a lot of carriers. I love them. With Dexter I use to always tote him around in his giant car seat. It hurt my arm, and I never got to just hold him. half the time he would cry because he was in it and wanted me to hold him but I couldn’t hold him and the carrier, so I was stuck with a throbbing arm and a screaming child. I had started wearing Dexter when he was about 11 months so none of my carriers were a good fit for a newborn.I do own a Moby Wrap but I wanted a soft structured carrier just because they are quicker.
I had originally ruled out the Boba because ay the time they only had the 2G. Which you can not put an infant in. About a month before I had Max they came out with the 3G. I looked into it and saw that you could carry an infant in it and I got so excited! This was the carrier I had been wanting and now I could get it. I contacted my friend at Hoppers baby Haven and she told me about all the great changes in the carrier. I was so excited to buy it. She even found the cheapest way to ship it to me. How cool is that!? I got the carrier about two days later and I was so excited to try it.
I started wearing Dexter in it while I was 9 months pregnant and honestly it was not as comfortable as my Baby Hawk but it was still way more comfortable then carrying him around on my hip. But the main reason I bought this carrier was for Max anyways. After Max got here we made our first outing at about 4 weeks, He weighed 9lbs. I was so excited to use my Boba out in public I had worn him around the house a few times but not for a long time. I was really going to get to test it. The first place I wore him was car shopping. Everyone knows how annoying car shopping can be with a newborn. Having to either push a stroller around every where or carry the car seat can be a pain, especially wen you also have a 21month old. I was so glad to have this carrier.
Adjusting the carrier to put Max in it was very easy, I just folded the bottom up and changed the direction of how the buckles were attached. Putting him in the carrier was a little difficult to “froggy” his legs up correctly. I was afraid I was going to hurt his legs somehow. I had watched a few videos and read the manual though so I think that helped a lot. My biggest complaint with the carrier was that it was really hot to carry him around in. I am not sure if it is because I own the black one or what but he and I were both sweating after about 30 minutes. I was afraid he was going to over heat so I ended up taking him out and taking him inside. Other than that the carrier was easy to put on, and light weight. It folds up small enough to put in my diaper bag. It has a pocket for the hood and another lower pocket. I love pockets so I was glad it had two! It also comes with two attachments a hood and stirrups for bigger babies. I really enjoyed the hood to keep the sun off his face and to keep strangers from leaning over me to look at him. Another thing I don’t like about the carrier is the arm straps don’t have buckles. So you can not cross them in the back if that is how you prefer to wear your baby. You have to use the chest strap. Which is fine for me but I know other people who prefer to wear them differently.
I have also worn Dexter in it and I was so surprised at how easy it is to carry him in it. I thought because it was thinner width wise than my other carriers he would not fit in it. But I was very wrong! He fit into it great! It was so easy to get him in there on my back and front. He was completely covered by the fabric which I know he likes. He is 2 and weighs about 25lbs now and he is light in it, the carrier really distributes his weight evenly.
I really can not say enough good things about this carrier. It is so easy to carry both my boys in it. I love having a versatile carrier that I can just fold up and take with me any where. We are not a carry your kid everywhere in the car seat kind of family. We do use strollers but our kids don’t often like to be in them. So it is great to have a carrier that I can put either one in and that is so comfortable. I also love how cute the print is, I always get compliments on it, Its like wearing a cute purse for a mom. hehe.

WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO A FRIEND? YES!

Want a sleeping baby? Put him in a carrier!
Close enough to kiss.
Real men wear babies.
The heat kind of takes getting used to. Some carriers have mesh lining to help you with it, but pretty much whenever you have another body that close you'll be warmer.
ReplyDeleteCarriers are definitely nicer during the winter when you want a little extra body heat.
After reading your review, I ended up getting the Boba 3G Carrier "Diaper Dude" in Pinstripes. I love this thing! It is WAY better than the hand-me-down carrier that my sister gave us, and definitely appeals to my masculine sensibilities. Thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I was able to help you find a carrier. These defiantly are not one of the "girly" carriers they have out there. I really love my Boba3G!
